Akron is a city in the U.S state of Ohio and it has an approximate population of 207,510 people. It is located to the south, about 96 kilometers west of Pennsylvania border. Akron was founded in the 1800's and was a manufacturing center mostly due to it being near a mass of locks.A lock is a device for raising and lowering boats between amounts of water of different levels on river and canals. These locks were needed because of the high elevation of the city and where it got its name from. The Greek work akropolis, means highest, so thus became Akron.
